
Lemon grass (Cymbopogan flexuosus) is a native aromatic tall sedge (family: Poaceae) which grows in many parts of tropical and sub-tropical South East Asia and Africa. In India, it is cultivated along Western Ghats (Maharashtra, Kerala), Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states besides foot-hills of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. It was introduced in India about a century back and is now commercially cultivated in these States. India produces the East Indian variety of lemongrass, which retains a higher citral concentration than its West Indies

Mints belong to the genus Mentha, in the family Labiatae (Lamiaceae). India produces 80% of the world’s mint supply and exports 75% of its output. The four most commonly cultivated species are:

Vetiver, is a perennial grass that belongs to the Poaceae family, which is native to India. It has a strong initial aroma and is described as woody, smoky, earthy, herbaceous and spicy. Main component is khusimol along with other sesquiterpenoids. The oil is mainly used in fragrance and medicinal preparations.

Eucalyptus oil is type of distilled oil produced from the leaf of Eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus oil is used in wide range of application such as pharmaceutical, repellent, antiseptic, flavoring, fragrance and industrial uses. The leaves of various eucalyptus species such as eucalyptus globulus, eucalyptus kochii, and eucalyptus polybractea are steam distilled to extract eucalyptus oil.

Commonly known as Holy basil, Ocimum
tenuiflorum (Lamiaceae), a variety of basil which is a native to the Indian subcontinent. Holy basil oil has a sharp, fresh, earthy and minty fragrance and is a popular medicinal
herb used for treating ailments ranging from colds
to chronic diseases, such as cancers and diabetes.

Safed Musli (Chlorophytum borivilianum) is a tuber crop belonging to the family Liliaceae. It is
partly a herb with sub-erect lanceolate leaves. There are many therapeutic uses of safed musli where dried tubers are used as a curative for pre-natal and post-natal illness, arthritis, restorative and a health tonic etc.

Ashwagandha(Withania somnifera Dunal.), a herb native to Asia and Africa, belongs to the family solanaceae having chromosome number 2n = 48. It is one of the commercial medicinal crops under rainfed condition. The dried roots are rich source of ‘withanine’ and ‘somniferine’ , it’s been used in traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years to ease pain and inflammation, treat insomnia, and boost nutrition, along with other conditions.

Psyllium is a soluble fiber derived from the seeds of Plantago ovata, an herb grown mainly in India. Psyllium is best known for its uses in digestive health but can also help provide health benefits such as helping lower cholesterol† and helping maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Senna is a small shrub belonging to the Caesalpiniaceae family,a highly valued medicinal plant and is used as a natural laxative to treat constipation. senna is used quite extensively in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, herbal and ayurvedic industries
